Package for Stouffer's Salisbury Steak |
Packaged within a cardboard box was a plastic tray containing mashed potatoes and a beef steak in a gravy with mushrooms. The plastic tray was divided into two compartments, one for the main course, one for the side, and a sheet of plastic food wrap covered the tray.

Cooking
I cooked this package using a microwave and a glass plate instead of using the plastic tray. This was done by taking off the plastic food wrap and placing the frozen blocks of food into a dish. Everything managed to fit onto the one plate that I used. It came out fine, but I did regret not putting a lid over the plate because there was a bit of splashing from the gravy. A bit of fine ground pepper was added to the potatoes. No other flavoring or modifications were done.

Pretty standard affair. The potatoes came out fine without any cold spots. I ate this side separately without dipping the potatoes in the gravy -- some did get onto the edges though. While a bit of pepper was added, it tasted good on its own to me. There was enough flavor that the pepper didn't seem necessary. Actually, I didn't really notice it. What I did notice was a pretty consistent texture and a sort of buttery taste -- not sure if it was butter, but it reminded me of mashed potatoes I had that were well flavored and did clearly have butter.

Would I get it again? Yes, but it would not be at the top of my list. That's not to say it wasn't good, I just like other Stouffer's meals more. And it was somewhat filling. However, I had it with something else.
