Apparently, I made it through more than two decades of life without realizing there was a difference between "breathe" and "breath." My research suggested that, when it came to the operation of the lungs, "breathe" was the verb and "breath" was the noun. For all of those years, the impression I got was that "breath" was one of those weird, interchangeable words that depended completely on context like "can."
"I can can a can all day and all night a can 50 cans a night."
Discovered this one a few months back and just felt... shame. Couldn't help but think about how many times I probably got it wrong then. The good thing, I thought, was that I rarely used the "breathe" form of the word. It was either "breathing" or some form of "take a breath."
