(Spoilers) Sleepy Hollow: S1E2 "Blood Moon" Impressions

***SPOILER WARNING: Spoilers may be found in the post below about VARIOUS ITEMS. And I'm going to add in a bit of filler text here to limit how much of the main article gets shown in a preview. That should take care of most of it. Hopefully. And away we go. SPOILER WARNING. ***

Thank goodness for DVRing. I can't believe I went without a recording device for so long.

Overview
Second episode and the time travel thing is starting to be addressed more. Ichabod is living out of a hotel room and someone, I'm assuming Abbie, has helped put up Post-It notes everywhere. One big thing I missed last episode: their collaboration was apparently prophesized. Something about a 7 year fight between good and evil.

John Cho's character comes back from the dead and he helps the forces of evil (what else to call it?) to bring an evil witch back from the dead. She comes back as a burned corpse with powers, but needs the ashes of some of the people who had a hand in executing her to be properly reincarnated. Some people die, she is reincarnated, but Ichabod and Abbie blow her up with a cache of gunpowder.

Highlights
Abbie gives Ichabod a piece, he fires the gun once, the witch catches it in her hand unscathed, and he drops the gun. When asked why he dropped it, he claims that he didn't know there was more than one shot. Hilarious. How he figured out the safety features of modern firearms... whatever.

Review-ish
Pretty good episode. Seems like the show will be a monster of the week thing as the forces of evil (I need a better name...) are slowly being unleashed. I'm very much liking the two leads and they work well together.

Like I said, a lot more references to the 250 years Ichabod hasn't lived, and it's mainly being used for comedy. The good thing is that it seems like they're treating it intelligently and not like Just Visiting -- comedy with Jean Reno and Christina Applegate about two knights from Medieval times being transported to the present. Feels more like Kate & Leopold, but 1000 years is a bit greater than 100 or 250 years.

Another big surprise is that John Cho's back. I didn't think he'd be back for more episodes, but his reincarnated corpse/zombie isn't killed in this episode. We finally get to meet Abbie's sister in this episode too. Even the decapitated Sheriff is back in dream/ghost form.

One minor complaint is the whole Abbie and her sister saw the devil in the woods thing. It's supposed to be a major life-changing and traumatic moment for them. However, the flashback scenes don't seem to do it justice and I'm not "feeling it" -- it doesn't feel or seem that traumatic to me as shown. New episode tomorrow, looking forward to watching it next weekend. Damn you 2 Broke Girls and Mom.
