(Spoilers) Hell on Wheels: S3E5 "Searchers" Impressions

***SPOILER WARNING: Spoilers may be found in the post below about VARIOUS ITEMS. And I'm going to add in a bit of filler text here to limit how much of the main article gets shown in a preview. That should take care of most of it. Hopefully. And away we go. SPOILER WARNING. ***

Totally missed the show again. Thank goodness that AMC reruns new episodes multiple times afterwards. Saturday at 9pm is not a "standard" new episode time -- Saturday in general isn't.

Overview
Left off last time with Elam and Eva's baby stolen from their tent. Obviously, this episode continues that story and focuses on her, the baby's, recovery. Various accusations are thrown around with O'Toole's brother being the main suspect. Meanwhile, the town/camp is being moved down the line, and there's a storm coming that could bog the operation down if they don't move in time -- the lost baby threatens this.

Two horses are eventually reported missing, which leads Elam and Bohannon to ride out after them. The baby is found and she was taken by Sarah (?) and her partner. Sarah (?) was sick in the past episode or two in the brothel, and she was evicted from the brothel in the last episode. During all of this, Psalms kidnaps O'Toole's brother believing that he took the baby.

Highlights
There's a scene midway through where Ruth finds Eva standing knee-deep in a river. While talking to Eva, Ruth reveals that she became pregnant after "relations" with Joseph -- "Fornicator" -- and lost the baby (miscarriage?).

We also get to see both Bohannon and Elam getting paternal.

Impressions
I did not expect the dying courtesan from the last episode or two and her partner to be involved. It seemed like a pointless side-story. Definitely didn't think it was O'Toole either considering that he didn't skip town right away with the kid. Otherwise, does one stash it in the woods and come back later?

The Psalms beat down on O'Toole's brother is a bit excessive -- not the violence, but considering the "what would he do with the kid if he didn't skip town" thing. Whatever. Like it better than the last episode. Entertaining.
